Because of your generosity, WAVS vocational schools equip hundreds of young men and women with life-changing job skills every year, all while sharing God’s love through word and deed. Thank you!

But not everything we do happens in a classroom (or a workshop). Your giving also helps build healthy teams, funds student graduations, and supports students after they graduate. Every gift you make helps fulfill a vision for a world where we all thrive — in life, in work, and our relationships with each other and our Creator.

Your year-end gift will help raise the $40,000 needed to support this vision for WAVS students and staff in 2024.

And thanks to generous donors, all gifts made before the end of the year will be matched, up to $20,000!

The impact of your gift

(scroll below for more details)

Build Community

Relationships are the cornerstone of our work. We invest in our teachers so that they can invest in their students. Your year-end gift will help WAVS purchase Christmas presents for staff in Guinea-Bissau, fund an annual team retreat, and host three teacher training workshops per year.

Build Community

Give Opportunity

When students graduate, it’s just the beginning of their journey. WAVS vocational schools walk alongside our graduates to help them succeed in life. For example, through the New Entrepreneurs Program, WAVS provides students with starter kits at a discounted price so they can use their new skills starting on day one.

Give Opportunity

Celebrate Successes

Many WAVS students have to make sacrifices to attend the vocational schools, including walking several miles each way to school, every day. To celebrate their accomplishments, WAVS hosts a small student celebration at the end of each 4-month term and also hosts an annual graduation ceremony.

Staff training days are held several times each year to equip the staff with new teaching methods so that they can grow in their own skills and even better equip the students. The days are also important for team building.

Fridays are team lunch days at the office! Staff spend time eating together and playing team building games.

Graduations are a time to celebrate the accomplishments of students who have completed all of the classes for a course. Graduations are attended by students, staff, teachers, friends, family and often local officials and media.

The NEP (New Entrepreneur Program) kits contain supplies to help welders start up a small workshop. NEP kits are awarded to welding interns at the end of their program. These interns are selected for their outstanding performance as students and receive an additional year of training and hands-on practice.

Each Christmas the staff and teachers at the WAVS schools are given a Christmas gift of groceries. These groceries enable them to have a Christmas gathering for their friends and family.
