Thanks to your generosity, WAVS continues to equip hundreds of young men and women with life-changing job skills each year, helping them break the cycle of poverty by working for a brighter future. And along the way, we get to share with them the Good News of God’s love!
But a new job skill is just the beginning. After completing their training, graduates need physical tools — hammers, saws, welders — to put their skills into practice. That’s because in Guinea-Bissau, few large companies exist. So many skilled workers set up their own simple workshop, often under a zinc roof or shade tree. Access to quality tools is limited and expensive, so employees usually have to bring their own.
Through your support, the New Entrepreneurs Program provides graduates with high-quality, affordable starter tool kits. This Christmas, we’re raising $40,000 to provide a set of tools for 85 graduates from the WAVS welding, carpentry and computer literacy programs.
